Sell Polish Art - Free Valuation of Polish Paintings and Antiques
If you own a painting by a Polish artist – inherited, bought years ago, or discovered in a family estate – we would like to hear from you. Galeria Sztuki Plac Zamkowy is an art gallery on Castle Square in the heart of Warsaw, specializing in Polish painting of the 19th and 20th centuries. We buy and accept consignments of works by Polish artists from sellers all over the world, and we respond to every inquiry with a free valuation within 3 working days.
We are interested not only in paintings. Polish sculpture, silver, and antiques of all kinds find buyers through our gallery – if it is Polish and it is old, send us a photograph!
Why sell Polish art in Poland?
Polish art achieves its best prices in Poland. A painting by Kossak or Nikifor offered at a general auction in Munich, London, or a Michigan estate sale will typically sell far below its Warsaw market value – because the collectors who compete for Polish art are here. The Polish art market has grown strongly over the past two decades, and demand for good 19th- and 20th-century painting consistently exceeds supply. Selling through a Warsaw gallery means your work is placed in front of the buyers who value it most.
Sell Polish Art - Free Valuation of Polish Paintings and Antiques
We are particularly interested in works by Polish painters of the 19th and 20th centuries, including Jerzy Kossak, Wojciech Kossak, Juliusz Kossak, Zygmunt Menkes, Julian Fałat, Jan Stanisławski or Stanisław Kamocki – but this list is far from complete. Browse our artist directory to see the painters we research and catalogue, or simply send us a photo of what you have.
How it works
- Send us photographs. Use the form, email, or WhatsApp. Include the front of the work, the signature, and the reverse if possible. Phone photos are perfectly sufficient.
- Receive a valuation within 3 working days. Our valuation is free of charge and places you under no obligation to sell.
- Choose how to sell. We either purchase works outright or accept them on consignment – our standard consignment commission is 20%. We will recommend the option that suits your situation best.
- We handle the logistics. We help arrange professional packing and insured shipping to Warsaw, wherever the work is located. Payment is made by bank transfer in EUR, USD, or PLN.
Selling from abroad
Most of our international consignors have never shipped a painting before – and they don’t need to know how. We assist with packing, transport, arrangements from anywhere in the world; the specific arrangements depend on the object, its value, and its location, and we propose the best solution as part of the valuation. All correspondence can be conducted in English, and you receive payment directly to your bank account. There are no upfront costs to receive a valuation, and no obligation at any stage before you decide to sell.
Can't read the signature?
Many inherited paintings come with a signature that is hard to decipher – Polish names are not easy for foreign eyes. Send us a close-up photograph of the signature and we will identify the artist free of charge. Identifying Polish painters’ signatures is part of our daily work, and it is often the first step toward discovering that a family heirloom is worth far more than expected.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my Polish painting or antique is valuable? You don’t need to know – that is what the free valuation is for. Age, artist, subject, condition, and provenance all affect value, and works by well-known Polish painters can be worth from a few hundred to several hundred thousand euros. Send photographs and we will tell you honestly what you have.
Can I sell a painting from the USA, Germany, or the UK? Yes. We work with sellers worldwide and regularly acquire works from the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, and Israel, where many Polish works of art ended up over the past century. We help arrange international shipping to Warsaw.
Do you buy paintings outright or sell on consignment? Both. An outright purchase means immediate payment; consignment usually achieves a higher final price, with our standard commission of 20%. After the valuation we will explain both options so you can choose.
Do you only buy paintings? No – we are interested in Polish works of art of all kinds: paintings, drawings, sculpture, silver, and antiques. If it is Polish and historic, send us a photograph.
How long does the valuation take? You will receive our response within 3 working days of sending photographs. The valuation is free and carries no obligation.
What if the painting is unsigned or the signature is illegible? Send us a photo anyway, including a close-up of any signature or markings. We identify Polish artists’ signatures free of charge, and many valuable works reach us exactly this way.
Who arranges shipping and insurance? We help organize professional packing and transport to Warsaw from anywhere in the world. The arrangements depend on the object and its location, and we propose the best solution together with the valuation.
